Bristlenose plecos are generally friendly and mild-mannered towards other fish species, so they can get along with a wide variety of fish commonly found in community tanks. The best tank mates for bristlenose plecos are gentle, peaceful fish that won’t bother or attack them.
With that said, bristlenose plecos can also tolerate semi-aggressive tank mates, such as South American cichlids, though you will need to pay extra attention to the tank’s dynamics.
