Can pea puffers live with neon tetras?

Yes, pea puffers can live with neon tetras. Fast-moving and peaceful, neon tetras are some of the best tank mates for pea puffers.

The friendly tetras are unlikely to cause trouble or provoke the aggressive pea puffers. And even if any sort of conflict accidentally happens, the tetras can easily outswim the pea puffers to avoid fin-nipping.

To keep your pea puffers and neon tetras happy, make sure to provide plenty of space for them. A pea puffer requires 3–5 gallons of water, while a neon tetra only needs a gallon.

Also, because tetras are schooling fish, make sure to keep at least six of them in the tank.
