Your gourami fish are fighting because they are:
- involved in territorial conflicts
- asserting their dominance and hierarchy in the tank
- fighting over a scarcity of food
- fighting over mates
- protecting their nests
In most cases, you shouldn’t worry about your gouramis fighting. If you let them fight for a while, they’ll eventually calm down after asserting their dominance. Additionally, you can put more decorations and plants in the tank to minimize aggression. Also, separate the fish using a tank divider if needed.
Lastly, you can try adding a larger, more aggressive fish to the tank. This can balance out the hierarchy and help calm down your gouramis. However, this is a last resort option that should be done with caution.
