The wolf cichlid is the meanest cichlid. Known as blood-thirsty beasts in the fishkeeping community, they are very vicious and territorial. Wolf cichlids won’t hesitate to attack any fish that dare enter their territory. They’re also the biggest cichlid in the family – a mature wolf cichlid is around 28 to 30 inches long.
You should not attempt to keep wolf cichlids with other fish. Aside from needing lots of space, they will also devour any tank mates you provide for them.
The following cichlids are smaller but just as mean as wolf cichlids:
- Red terror cichlids
- Red devil cichlids
- Banded jewel cichlids
- Black nasty cichlids
- Mayan cichlids
