The lifespan of molly fish is three to five years. The life expectancies differ between various molly species, but on average, most molly fish can live to be three to five years old.
The quality of care they get will also impact their lifespan. If you want your molly fish to live long, healthy lives, here are some things you should do:
- Provide around three gallons of water for each molly fish
- Keep them in a small group of at least four fish
- Maintain the proper water parameters
- Clean the tank and do partial water changes regularly
- Avoid keeping them with aggressive tank mates
- Feed them an omnivorous diet consisting of high-quality flakes, live foods, and vegetables
- Provide plenty of plants and hiding spots
