Bettas like a variety of plants, toys, and decorations in their tank, including:
- Smooth gravel or sand
- Silk aquarium plants
- Live plants, such as water wisteria, Java fern, Java moss, and marimo moss balls
- Floating logs
- Betta hammocks
- Mini caves
- Ping pong balls and other floating toys
Make sure all ornaments and toys have no sharp edges that can hurt the fish.
To avoid contaminating the water with dirt and harmful microorganisms, clean everything with cool running water before putting them in the tank. Don’t use soap, as the residue is toxic for betta fish.
