How many angelfish can you have in a tank?

You can have up to six angelfish in a 55-gallon tank. Each angelfish requires ten gallons of water to live comfortably. Keep this factor in mind when determining how many angelfish you’re bringing home according to your tank size.

However, angelfish can sometimes get territorial, so be prepared to rehome some of them in a new tank if they get too aggressive.

Additionally, angelfish are social animals, so they thrive best in small schools of 5–6 fish. If you have a smaller tank and proper schooling isn’t possible, keeping them in pairs also works just fine.
